1. General information
The subject is organized in such a way that, at the end of the sessions, students will have achieved the following objectives:

To know the different systems of state intervention in children and the family environment
-
To know the child protection system in Spain
-
To understand the different models of juvenile justice and intervention with juvenile offenders
-
To know the inspiring principles of the Spanish juvenile justice system
-
To know the criminological trends in the international context in the regulation of juvenile delinquency
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda: Goal 5: Gender equality; Goal 10: Reduction of inequalities; Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions
2. Learning results
The student, in order to pass this subject, must demonstrate the following results...
The student should be able to analyse and discuss the main doctrines and approaches related to child protection, juvenile justice and family policies.
They will be able to make a presentation on one of the topics that have been worked on in the master, relating the theoretical approaches explained and discussed in class with the practice.

5. The inspiring principles of juvenile justice in Spain.
6. Juvenile delinquency prevention and trends in the European context.
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student includes the following activities...
1. In the first part of the sessions, master classes for the exposition of the theoretical approaches;
2. In the second part of the sessions, practical classes, for: a) discussion of texts presented by the students and reviewed by all; b) debate around the viewing of films related to the topics of the subject; c) discussion with professionals involved in intervention with children and youth.
5. Assessment system
Two possible evaluation systems are established: a mixed evaluation system and a global test system.
In order to pass the subject by means of a mixed system, the student may obtain up to 25% of the final grade by attending the theoretical and practical classes, taking tests, doing exercises or readings given by each teacher during the term. 75% of the grade will be obtained by performing an individual or group defence of some of the activities proposed during the classroom sessions: either the presentation and discussion of texts proposed by the teacher, the commentary and discussion of a film, the discussion of social policies related to the subject.
To pass the subject by means of a global test: students who have not passed the subject through attendance and participation in the classes, according to the previously established criteria, will be entitled to a single test consisting of a written exam of a theoretical and/or practical nature on the contents and documentation worked and discussed in the classes on the date foreseen in the exam calendar.
